  The Treaty of Lisbon Represents A “Revolution in Tourism Policy”, Says EU Commissioner Antonio Tajani

The Vice-President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship, Antonio Tajani, was pleased to say that the Treaty of Lisbon has given rise to a European tourism policy for the first time in the history of the EU.
In the opening ceremony of the European Tourism Stakeholders Conference in Madrid, on 14 April, the Italian commissioner stated that “we can talk about a revolution in tourism policy, as we are now working together for European tourism”.

  The EU Commits to Sustainable and Responsible Tourism

The Spanish Minister of Industry, Tourism and Trade, Miguel Sebastián, and the Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship, Antonio Tajani, greet each other before the start of the press conference.

In its first meeting after the coming into force of the Treaty of Lisbon, EU Tourism Ministers approved the “Madrid Declaration”, making a series of recommendations to the European Commission to implement a European tourism policy for the first time in the EU's history.

  CETA Conference, Falsterbo, Sweden, 27-29 May 2010

The CETA partners, Tourism for All, Sweden and Vellinge Municipality will host the CETA Conference for tourism SMEs, public sector actors and NGOs on 27 - 29 May 2010.
The venue is Falsterbo Strandbad, a newly-built facility for local residents and tourists on the south-western tip of Sweden, bordering the Öresund sea. The area is part of “Destination Söderslätt” which is a case study for the CETA project.

  VisitEngland Introduces "One-Step-Ahead" Access Label for Accommodation Sector

VisitEngland has recently refreshed the entry-level mobility standard of the United Kingdom's National Accessible Scheme, which enables accommodation providers to give a declaration of the accessibility of their business. The new standard, called ‘One Step Ahead’, is not so exacting as the requirements, for example, for full wheelchair accessibility.

  Scandic Launches First Hotel Information Service For Guests with Special Needs

“Scandic has become the first hotel chain to gather all its information for guests with special needs in one place. Every hotel’s homepage now provides answers to the 80 most common questions. For example how far it is from the car park to the entrance, whether there is a hearing loop and how wide the door to the room is,” explains the hotel chain’s Disability Ambassador Magnus Berglund.
